Background Accompaniment!

If you've ever attended an engagement featuring Egidio Faiella performing his mandolino,
then you also heard acoustic guitars and other instruments as background accompaniment.
Perhaps, this atmosphere made you close your eyes and imagine relaxing in the piazza of a
small Italian village enjoying local musicians performing traditional Italian music...
However, when you opened your eyes you were still very much here in America!
But those rare, old-fashioned traditional Italian melodies were still playing...
It was Egidio with only a mandolin... afterall!

MAKE NO MISTAKE ABOUT IT, EGIDIO PROUDLY PERFORMS HIS MANDOLINO LIVE!

Having said that, the acoustic guitar, soft symphony strings
& light percussion were pre-recorded in the recording studio.
|
|
Of the two plus hours of Italian and Italian-American music,
more than half of those studio tracks feature Egidio's father,
Mr. Eugene Benny Faiella on the acoustic guitar. Primarily in
the recording studio, Benny simply recorded just his acoustic
guitar solo. These unique recordings are preserved for all time!
Egidio affectionately & famously refers to these tracks as,
"Virtual Dad Tracks"! ;-)

The remaining studio tracks proudly feature Egidio himself on the acoustic guitar.
Along with the acoustic guitar, you'll sometimes hear light string and percussion
in the backgound which definitely adds to an Italian flavored atmosphere...

Sony Mini Disc Player.

This is where Egidio's wife Patricia performs an important role...
|

Here's a very common scenario:
A particular table has a request... NOT A PROBLEM!
Patricia finds the right accompaniment on MiniDisc and awaits Egidio's signal to begin.
Egidio affectionately refers to this function as, "Virtual Wife"! ;-)
"It really is a fun way to spend time... "together" performing grandpa's music!"
Patricia's other duties happily include shining Egidio's mandolins!
Patricia proudly speaks fluent Italian which definitely adds to an Italian flavored atmosphere...

In rare cases when Patricia is unable to attend an engagement with her husband,
Egidio simply attaches one of his back-up Shure Wireless Remotes to his
Sony Minidisc and puts it in his tux pocket!
AGAIN, REQUESTS ARE NOT A PROBLEM!
Egidio affectionately refers to this function as, "VIRTUAL ME"! ;-)
